A Maybe Lucky Event

I had finished with the domestic work and I had a few hours free time, so I had decided to visit my neighbor to have a chat and to gossip for a while. We were sitting on the table in the kitchen drinking a fine brandy, but I had got thirsty and I had asked her for a glass of water. She stood her chair and she made a few steps when the metal kitchen wall art that was hanged just above her head detached from the wall and had fell down. She was lucky because it was heavy and it should have hit her right on her head. The art piece was not supposed to fell down but it was good it had not happened while my friend was sitting on her chair.

Media Need to Serve Their Purpose

singapore non-view w/ smog

I can hear the radio now. There is a heavy fog in the down anyone driving a car… stop there! Why saying a fog when there is smog falling in my town. Is this seem right to you? Why an important media as the radio should twist the things in this way. Isn’t the purpose of mass media to inform people? I know it is smog not a fog. I can see I can smell it no fog smell like this. I remember what fog is from my childhood. For more than twenty years we have replaced the fog with smog. Radio must tell the truth to the people. Things should be named with their true names, else they misinform instead of informing us. It is a twisted purpose to misinform people. This seems not right to me.

Everything Is So Fragile Now

I was hanging my coat on the metal decor hangings in the foyer and the hanging broke. It was from metal but not strong enough to support the heavy winter coat. The coat was really heavy because it was soaked by the snow melted upon it but hangings are made for one purpose only – to hang your clothe on them. If they can not perform their purpose during winter they should sell them not as “hangings” but as summer hangings”. I had bought those a week ago. I had no idea they can be so fragile. Ten years ago I would have bought from the store hangings which I can hang my car upon. Everything new is feeble and lasts just a few days.

The Lychee -Tasty Exotic Fruit

Weird Fruit

I prefer eating vegetables instead of fruits. I am not against fruits but I simply find their taste not as good as the vegetables. Usually when we pass by the fruits section in the store it is my wife that buys anything from there. Last time I was shopping from a list that my wife gave to me and when I got to the fruits saw a very interesting fruit called Lychee. Out of curiosity I decided to buy two to taste it – one for me and one for my wife. I can to describe the taste exactly because it does not resemble to me anything I had tasted before. My wife had found the taste weird but for me it is very interesting. She even had not eaten her fruit, but I had eaten it instead of her. Once again I had realized we have a very different feeling about what is tasty me and my wife.

Should I Buy It or Not

I was on my usual Christmas shopping spree yesterday. I had spent tons of money in a single day only and I was way beyond my budget as always during this time of year. I saw a metal bikes wall art that would suit my son’s room wall. He already has a lot of gifts but I was tempted to buy this one too. I don’t why maybe it was the money I had spent too much but something stopped me from buying it although I think it is nice. If I give it now to my son together with all the other presents he might not appreciate it. Maybe I should buy it tomorrow but keep it and give it to him later on some occasion. But still I am not totally convinced I should buy this wall art.

What I Don’t Like in Windows 7

Windows 7 Smoke

I had migrated to Windows 7 from XP since 5 months. Before that I made an attempt to be on Vista but I say attempt because it lasted only a week and I had decided to go back to XP. Vista is good system but for me it is not better than the XP. Since I have 5 months experience now I can say what annoys me in the new 7. At first it was a little awkward to me to operate but in time I get used and now I can say it is a relatively easy to use operating system and for sure is better than XP. Still there is one thing that annoys me. When I copy I am always asked what to do to several times while copying many directories and many files. I tried to find an option Windows never to ask me but I have not found it. I am sure there is a way to fix this but I can not find it easy – this is one of the irritating features of this almost perfect Windows version.

I Still Remember the Moment

I love my wife. I love her very much. We met there in a coffee. She was a waitress there. I know she would be the one the moment I met her. I remember the first moment we met. I remember every detail clearly. Even the texture of the music metal wall decor hanged around on the walls of the coffee is clearly imprinted in my mind. Even the feeling of the fabric of the table coverings, the smell of the place, the spoon I was holding in my hand the headlines of the paper I was reading… I remember everything, every single detail. This moment is imprinted deeply inside me.

My Friend Talks Stupid

Bamboo Forest

I have flowers wall sculptures and bamboo wall sculptures hanged in my dining room. I have a friend of mine that made disturbing comments about those art pieces hanged on my wall. She said that bamboo and flowers are mutually exclusive. She said she had watched a movie about bamboo forests and it was dark there and no flowers growing on the ground, or at least not such flowers as mine with bright and whimsical colors. The theme is not a match she said. I must admit I am a little confused. She is not a very good friend of mine and I think she is talking nonsense. I don’t think I need to represent a bamboo forest in my dining room. I just like how these art pieces look. She is simply saying stupid things.

Foreign Countries

First Look at Laos

I was on a trip to a foreign Asian country last week. It was my first visit in Laos. So far I have been only in Europe. I thought that visiting a foreign country is always an adventure. And to tell you the truth it is really an adventure. Especially if you do not know the language. Europe seemed different to me but compared to Asia it looks to me as a homeland now. People in Asia are so different. Their culture, their habits, their food, their way of living and their philosophy -nothing is as ours. Asia is really foreign. Europe they seem to me something like cousins to us.

You Don’t Need to Be Rational

I want to make my kitchen with a rustic outlook. For a start I decided to hang a peacock wall art there. This should be the last thing to do but I start with it. First I need to change the curtains, the chairs and I need to change also my kitchenware and so on. To choose an accessory for your wall is easier than this what I mentioned. But I saw it and I like it. I had realized my kitchen will look warmer if I have this peacock on my wall. Maybe I am not rational but good things happen when you are actually irrational.

Fewer Tasks for Productivity

As fewer tasks you assign to a person or to a team the more effectiveness raises. This is according to some consultants for office effectiveness. They describe this as a paradox of the productivity. I don’t understand why they call this a paradox? It is absolutely obvious to me and I think to anyone else also, that the less things you have to worry about the better your brain functions. There is no need for some highly paid consultant to come and say this to me. There is no need to write profound articles on this subject. Sometimes I wonder why and how such “consultants” exist.

The Most Dangerous Animal

Dengue Mosquitoe

Can you tell me which one is the animal that is most dangerous to the humans? Can you guess which animal had killed and is still killing most people from all the others? From which animal you should be scared most? Do you think it is the tiger, the lion, the crocodile, the wolf, the bear or the…? Can you guess it? I think you may not. It is because the hazard is often neglected and people fail to notice it. The same is in this case. I had never though that the animal that has done the greatest harm to the mankind is the small pesky mosquito.

What Will Happen with the World

My children now can do things with their computers that I can not imagine they can do. I am loosing the idea of how and what they can do. I simply can not understand the technology. And they are my children and we have been in a similar environment. They are much more developed than I am. Now if we take a look globally at the world they are countries where people do not have computers at all. People with computers know a lot and can do a lot of stuff, while those that do not have them are extremely short on knowledge and capabilities. All the people have equally comparable capabilities in general. But what if they don’t have the tools to enhance their capabilities? I think the gap between people is increasing. And this gap will be a huge problem in the future. I hope we all stay humane and we do something to remove this gap.

A Real Virtual Reality

Virtual Reality

Will there be a real virtual reality in the near future? I am talking about reality where you can plug-in and sense the smell, the taste, the touch - to feel everything. There is a virtual world now but it is more like imaginary world. You need to have your imagination to fill the gaps in this “reality” and those gaps are huge. I think that our advancement allows us even noe to create such an environment. The problem is that it is too expensive I think. But in the near future maybe 20-30 years I think the real virtual reality will be a fact.

Beds of the Future When They Will Come

My bed is something that has not changed since hundreds of years. We have a technological revolution advancement beyond anyone could ever had dreamt about a hundred years ago and yet my bed is not revolutionized. It hasn’t changed much. Except that they are no bed-bugs inside it I sleep on a very ordinary bed that such bed used to have people a hundred years ago. There is a slight variation but the principle is the same. People spend one third of their lives sleeping. It is about time to revolutionize the beds. What are scientists waiting for? This is very important issue.

Your Own Metal Art

Metal art decor is a versatile idea for your indoor or outdoor decoration. Personally I don’t have metal outdoor but I have some really nice art pieces around in my rooms. I had come across a very good offer on the internet about unique metal art. The size the shape, the colors, the materials – you can choose everything. You can even send a picture or scheme of what you want to look like your art piece when it is finished. This was fascinating idea for me and even the price was not so low I decided to try once. I have no more places where to put new art pieces. Else I would have ordered more. It is fascinating to determine by yourself what your art should look like.

My Sea Food Restaurant

4B's Restaurant, Miles City
I am going to open restaurant in short time. It is a very special restaurant and I plan it to be our family business. I plan to take care of all the little details and everything is clearly pictured in my mind, even the mermaid metal wall decor I plan to hang as focal point in the foyer. Actually it all started with this decor. I saw it and I wanted to have but I had no place to hang it in my home. Then I said to me it would be great if I had my own restaurant to hang it inside. They are just few sea food restaurants where I live. And it is always full when I want to have a reservation. Then I told this to my husband and surprisingly he agreed that the idea is great. I had carefully planned everything since four moths. I think I am ready to start.

Christmas Gifts – Better to Start Early

Christmas is coming in few months and it is better to start prepare with the gifts. I already started my gifts collection for this year. I bought the first one. It is for my brother - a movie reel metal wall art. He needs something to freshen up the room where he works. The walls are too naked and cold. He enjoys the movies so I picked this art piece for him. I am certain he will like it. To freshen his wall is something that he needs but it will never cross his mind. I am doing him a favor and he will appreciate it. So my brother is out of the list. It was an easy one. Now… the next.

Rubbing Hands Is Bad

a little less sparkle 1
It appears that some researchers claim that rubbing hands after you wash them is hiding a risk for you. When you rub your hands you increase the number of the bacteria on your skin and thus increase the danger of carrying diseases. When you wash your hands you remove most of the bacteria but not all of them. And also when you rub hands the bacteria that live in your skin are showing on the surface. And if your hands are not dried perfectly the moisture on them makes even easier to transfer contamination to the objects you touch. Those researchers claim the best way is to use paper towels after you wash your hands. A think they are right. And I personally always prefer paper towels – it is quicker this way no to wait till the hot air dries your hands.

The Margins of Stupidity

Somali Pirates: The Untold Story
I think stupidity has no boundaries. And I had red recently one article showing how stupid people can be. It was about the Somalia pirates. Those “clever” guys had captured a German container ship and surprisingly they had not found the crew there. Crew was hiding in a saferoom. Then pirates had called by the phone to the ship owner saying - ‘Where is the crew here? Why is the engine not working?”. Can you imagine how stupid you must be to do that? It never stops to amuse me the scale of the stupidity that people can reach. The Somalia pirates’ stupidity scale is quite huge I think.

Tip for Feeling Better in Your Home

IMG_7154
You need more color in your rooms. Your home will be amiable if you use colors to decorate it. Personally I love my last acquisition it is just the right thing. I bought one nice dragonfly metal wall art. I love the bright colors and I love to be surrounded by such. The secret of balanced decor is to use bright colors and to combine them with neutral shades that are located in the color palette near the bright ones. This wall art is made exactly in this way. It had the proper orange and blue nuances that I was seeking for. I am always happy when I find what I am looking for. The proper combination of colors that you like is the secret for your lovely friendly house.

I Don’t Agree

My husband bought for my 5 years old sun a motorcycle wall art. He said the boy must have man’s items all around him including a wall art. But he did not ask me for this motorcycle before buying it. And I do not agree with this. I think first he must ask me and second he must not buy motorcycle. Motorcycles are dangerous. It is not good to point to our child dangerous things. They are many other things that can be called “man’s items” but motorcycles are from the dangerous ones. And that’s why they must not be given to 5 years old child while he does not now yet how dangerous motorcycles can be. He will grow up with the idea to have a motorcycle and when he gets one he can hurt himself badly. I don’t approve that entirely.

Lead in the Roman Empire

In the Roman Empire they were using lead as commonly spread material since it was easy to process it. People had no idea how dangerous for their health was this metal. And they were using it to make pipelines and kitchen ware. There is even a theory that the lead was the cause of the downfall of the Roman Empire. As they were taking this poison with the food, the Romans were exposed to risks of suffering from brain and neural damage and this used to continue through the generations. So Roman children were born from lead poisoned parents and when they grew up they were always exposed to lead poisoning. I don’t know but I am tend to agree that there is a point in such a theory.

My Old Candle Holder

I have as my heritage a unique wall candle holder. It has been in the family since hundreds of years. It is made from metal, quite massive and really looks ancient. I really like it and sometimes I even regret we are not using candles because I can not use it. I tried once and put it on my wall but it was no match to any of my furniture. So I took it down. But I think it is not fair to the candle holder. It has been in our family serving to us for so many years and now it is sitting in a dusty closet alone and un-useful. I take out the candle holder from times to time to clean and watch at it. I hope this way I chase away the loneliness for a while.

I Want to Go to Tibet

What is like to live in Tibet? I know they drink a lot of tea there and they are committed to non violence. They have many temples and they serve religious ceremonies all day. I have red a lot about Tibet but I know reading is not as experiencing the things. I think it is very spiritual to live in such a place. I wish I go someday there to touch the serenity of this land. I think I need to taste some of the peace and non aggressiveness that dwells there. I also want to understand how in the world such place can exist. It would be very interesting to go visiting Tibet.

Why Dogs Bark at People

Zack the German Shepherd
Image by Lee Coursey via Flickr
I have a German Shepherd dog that is 3 years old. Since I have a dog I am interested in dogs and sometimes I find it interesting to understand them better. For instance why they bark at all? My dog is well mannered and it is trained not to bark at people. But anyway if dogs are not trained they bark at them. My dog barks when it notices danger or when he sees something that he strongly dislikes. For instance when he was young I punished him once hitting him with the turtles metal wall decor in our living room because it was at my reach at the moment. He memorized that and now when he sees other wall decor he wants to bark at it (I trained him not to, it took me a lot of efforts). But he is not barking turtles or other metal objects. So why dogs bark at people? I think they do that because not long time ago people were the major thread to each other. I think this is genetically imprinted in dog’s minds and this surely is an evidence for our violent past.

Michael Schumacher Is not the Greatest Champion

Nürburgring
I am fan of Formula 1 racing. I think American teams must participate there too. I think we can show our best there. They are things I do not like in the F1 though. For instance I don’t like Michael Schumacher acting on the track. I can not ignore the fact that he is seven times world champion in F1, but I do not like the way he does this. He is racing to win at any cost. He is even ready to risk other player safety if this serves him somehow. He is arrogant and not sportsman. Even after he gained his titles his behavior did not changed. If you are the best there is no need to do everything no matter the cost. I don’t think such people are great persons. He is gifted for sure but he is not great man. That’s why I can not call him the Greatest Champion in F1. I wish an American pilot to win the price someday.

Don’t Make Repairs When Your Wife Is Around

I made a repair to our guest room all by myself. My wife was nagging me that this is an important room and so on and finally I decided to make the repairs. So I painted the walls and changed the ceiling (of course my wife picked the colors). I also scraped the parquet flooring and I put lacquer after. I also had changed the carpet on the floor with new one. My wife decided to change one of the walls to have a decorative wall art in unison with the new carpet. She hired a professional to make it and to choose a proper angle of lighting. Here is where my problems started. The designer wanted to have new cable ducts for the lights and all my efforts with painting the walls were poured down the drain. He also put the idea to my wife to have floor heating in the room. At the end all my work was utterly destroyed in the name of the new reformations. Even we had made the perfect room I will never again start doing any repairs with my wife around.

Eggs from Free Grown Chickens

I don’t like to eat eggs. There is something in the taste that makes them not so tasty to me. But eggs are overpraised by so many dieticians. I don’t like the eggs but they are constantly showing as good source of proteins and other valuable ingredients so I decided to include few of them in my weekly diet. I bought the most expensive chicken eggs in the store. They were from free grown chickens. I must admit that they had a different taste. Still I do not like it but it is something that I can endure in the name of the healthy diet. My friends are telling me that I fancy this different taste but I really sense it.

Decoration of a Hotel

Image via Wikipedia

I plan to open a small family business hotel and it is almost done. I think people will always need hotels. There will be always a place for good hotels and I intend mine to be such. My wife helped me a lot with the choices that I had to make for furniture and decoration. I must say she did a perfect job to make good appearance from inside. She made me spend a lot of money, more than I intended, but I think it was worth it. She convinced me that if I spend few thousand for good looking view from outside, for instance if I put outdoor metal wall decor this way we will save money from advertising later. She also reminded me that if you start doing something you must pay attention to all the details and do the things once and for all. Metal decoration from outside is doing so. I must confess that buying metal decorations for the fence and walls from outside seemed to me not quite necessary. But she showed to me the benefit of such decorations. I think my wife deserves to call her the head of the Hotel and I am simply the guy with the money.

Wall Art Groupings Made Simple

Would you like to discover the most efficient way of adding wall art to any room in your home? There’s no ‘magic’ when it comes to arranging wall art. It is a good idea to experiment and try out different ways of grouping pieces of art until you find the formation that suits your tastes and also accentuates existing components in the room.
The following eight suggestions will give you some more ideas on how to group your wall art effectively:

1. The asymmetric design is an arrangement that gives off a casual appearance.
Balancing the overall impression of your wall art is achieved by an asymmetrical placement.

2. Consider a vertical alignment for many types of wall art.
You can produce ‘height’ in a room by stacking picture frames or wall art pieces above one another on the wall. Simply follow a vertical line upwards beginning from an eye-level point.

3. By following a diagonal line, you will give off an informal appearance.
For an exciting and asymmetrical impression that tends to draw the eye toward the upper part of the room, diagonal lines are idyllic. For example, you can arrange a large tropical wall décor on the wall and complement it with two smaller tropical theme wall decors placed diagonally on one side of it.

4. Order smaller wall art pieces to look bigger.
To make smaller pieces of wall art have big affect, hang several pieces together as one group. Choose different sized items and order them to create a montage or choose identical items and arrange them close together in a pattern, such as an upright or reversed ‘U’.

5. Following a symmetrical line when hanging wall art will allow you to create order and balance within the room.
Straight lines are invariably soothing and idyllic to look at. This method for grouping wall art is easy to follow and is an easy way to place your pieces. You will simply hang two small wall art items on either side of a larger piece of wall art. Placing two like pieces of art on the sides of one piece that is unique is also a good alternative that is visually attractive.

6. Add great flair to the wall with a diagonal grouping.
The diagonal arrangement always looks good on specific areas like staircases. The wall art items, as well as the ‘shadowboxes’ that contain pictures and other art pieces, will add some pizzazz in any area where they hung.

7. Wall art that is arranged in a straight line is gratifying to the eye.
To accentuate symmetrically framed pictures more effectively, line them up horizontally. Iron wall art and other types of wall art look good in this type of grouping. Following a straight line also adds ‘width’ to a less than spacious room. The space appears wider.

8. You can produce a box shape if you arrange various sizes of wall art on the walls.
Wall art, framed pictures and shadow boxes are great for this use and are available in different sizes and styles. You can easily place or group these items onto the wall in a box-like formation. Feel free to experiment so that you will determine the optimal arrangement that will offset every decor item but still preserve a balanced feel.

Recall the old proverb that states 'practice makes perfect'. A great rule of thumb to recall is not to add any nails to your wall until you have experimented with different arrangements for your wall art and discovered one that suits you best.

From Drab to Fab with Wrought Iron Wall Decor Choices

The distinguished artisan need not be cued to "strike while the iron is hot", as he is fully aware that he has just a limited amount of time to hammer his wrought iron into a masterpiece from a mass of cold metal. Spontaneity conducted by instinct forces his quick hammer blows, and he is self-assured by the fact that his variations will make each piece even more prized. This partly explicates the appeal of wrought iron wall art. Their stunning designs speak volumes of the natural hungering in man for expression, a desire painted all over the sweaty tanned face of the master craftsman as he forges the iron. Wrought iron is invariably an exquisite delight to look at, whether it has scrolls or quatrefoil, or is with or without chisel mark incisions, or with plain or twisted rods. Think about the following ways with which you can lavish style on your wall utilizing wrought iron:

Wrought Iron Idea: Wall Grilles
Anybody can deck his wall with framed photographs if he wishes to stay on the plane of the commonplace. It’s when one tries to express himself that he starts to look at wall grilles. There is something that is just ethereal about wall grilles that makes a strong statement on any wall.

One always gets a feeling of veneration when in front of a good iron wall grille. Possibly it’s in reflecting how severe and empty iron can have such refined and supple lines, and what sharp level of skill must have been put into play to come up with such a thing of beauty. A better look at crossing bars unveils straight pieces and crosswise threads, all beautifully formed. One gazes further, and he sees interconnected or woven grilles consisting of two series of parallel small-diameter rods, one series at right angles to the other, every detail seeping with fabulous craftsmanship.

Wrought Iron Idea: Wall Sconces
Wall sconces for candles bestow a timeless property to the ambiance of the space, be it the bedroom or the dining room, taking one back to the glory days of ancient castles, kings, and princesses.

Wrought Iron Suggestion: Arch Plaques
An arch plaque makes for a splendid headboard even as a stand-alone accent in the bedroom.

Wrought Iron Idea: Mantelpieces
A monogrammed plaque makes a nice mantelpiece. In place of a monogram, another fundamental idea is to utilize any family herald device. Producing a focal point over the open fireplace has never been easier than when a wrought iron metal tree wall decor is put into place.

Wrought Iron Suggestion: Friezes and Accents
Perking up a door or wall is a piece of cake when a wrought iron frieze is set above the door or on the wall. There’s certain to be something for every taste: abstract, landscape, nature. From wine metal wall decor to music metal artwork, wrought iron accents are available in a superfluity and abundance of themes.

Wrought Iron Suggestion Wall Mirrors
Mirrors bordered in wrought iron scrolls or quatrefoil can turn ordinary mirror into a head turner.

From the master artisan's anvil, breathtaking works of art for the home have been forged out for centuries. This craft has gone far beyond merely being kept alive, but has been honed to such a paragon that it is a given that wrought iron choices will invariably be a treasured part of home decor.

Tropical Wall Art Guide for Designers

A four-season room can take you face to face with the beauty of Mother Nature every last day of the year. Why not add some island flair to a four-season room and make it your favorite room through every season? Your four-season room can seem like a true island oasis when you employ a few decorative tips that feature tropical wall art.

Imagine Big and Set the Pace with a Majestic Tropical Focal Point

Choose a larger piece of good quality tropical wall art of an proper size for your wall space; you can select either a large wall art or a grouping of smaller pieces. The important thing is that the display is not too large or too small for the area. You do not want it to overwhelm, but you do not want it to be so small that it has no affect. A pair of candle wall sconces in a tropical theme is a great add-on to a large piece of tropical wall art when making a focal point. Illuminating the focal point by candlelight is as simple as hanging one on either side or aranging a pair of sconces to the side. Selecting fragrant candles evocative of the tropics, such as cocoa palm, mango or jasmine, will add a fragrant attribute to your display.

A larger tropical wall art is idyllic for setting an island aura on a larger expanse of wall in the four-season room. To illuminate your focal point after dark, set candles in hurricane lamps or on a table beneath the sconces. Whether you prefer the beauty of tropical birds, the serenity of palm trees depicted in a metal tree wall décor, or the exuberance of tropical blossoms, you will find nearly unlimited choices in metal tropical wall art.

Fuse bamboo metal wall art with tropical birds and go a little bit wild. The severe and robust lines of bamboo wall art are a great accompaniment to macaws, toucans and parrots, all native to the tropics. Bamboo metal wall art that integrates tropical blooms and grassy foliage adds a nice natural touch to your focal point.

Whimsical Interest and Playful Elements with Island Accents

Island accents that support your main focal point will bring even more tropical spice to your four-season room. Flora, foliage, botanical prints of island creatures, captivating amphibians and frogs, and brilliant butterflies are among the viable options. Tropical wall art that serves a purpose is a good option; for example, you might find a thermometer, outdoor wall clock or barometer with a lizard or frog motif that will add to the ambience. Ceramic or metal lizards and geckos can be positioned so that they seem to be going up the walls. Impart live tropical color to the four-season area by adding a potted tropical plant, like a mandevilla or hibiscus that can serve as a houseplant all year long.

Matchstick roll-up blinds, a jute or grass cloth area rug, wall mirrors, toss pillows and table or floor lamps and candle stands can also add to your tropical theme. Check online designer outlets as well as resale shops to find a big selection of tropical themed items at low-budget prices.

Deck Out Your Walls with Wall Accents

No house is truly completed without the add-on of wall hangings on every major wall throughout its interior. The reason why they are so in demand is because there is a legitimate motivation to dress up any empty wall or add function to any portion of the house. Wall decor art typically covers a good array of design treatments and decorative accent items such as metal wall art, paintings and framed photos in the living room to the useful shelving and open racks found in bedrooms and kitchens.

In recent years, the trend among savvy consumers is to purchase classic pieces that are manufactured with strength, versatility, and expressive style in mind. Metal wall accents are timeless decor items that are a smart investment for the acute homeowner. In this article, we will give you a rundown of three of the most popular designs being sold in the market right now.

The fleur-de-lis wall grille - The simple and refined fleur-de-lis pattern provokes the rural appeal of stylish villas that dotted the Tuscan countryside during the old days. You can create an enamored and gratifying rural ambience that prompts family fun and good conversation by hanging these decorative wall grilles throughout the interior. Homeowners often prefer this look in the most vermicular room in the home, the kitchen. Numerous folks have elected to deck out the terrace, garden, or other alfresco area with a fleur-de-lis patterned wall grille. If you prefer the rustic country design aesthetic, then this alternative is for you.

Old-fashioned mirror - Large antique mirrors not only impart a look of roominess to any space, they also fill a bare wall with style, grace, and flair. These pieces of large wall art elicit old-world charm and produce an exquisite and trendy atmosphere inside the bedroom or the living room. You can easily produce a turn-of-the-century design with antique mirrors that are authoritative and picturesque and that bestow an authentic Old World feel. You might pick out this wall accent for your interior if you are the amorous type who enjoys the look and feel of the boudoir.

The sunburst wall sculpture - While there are those who long for conventional and definitive pieces, a growing number of homeowners, especially the upwardly mobile ones have started to take interest in what has got to be the most fashionable design in its genre- the sunburst wall sculpture. Alternately up-to-date, architectural, and cutting edge, these metal wall artworks extract a sense of the dynamic and cosmopolitan panache to any interior. Furthermore, these multifarious wall sculptures come in many sizes, textures, and materials, making it easier for you to integrate these into your current home decor.

Whichever design you favor, bear in mind that the design piece must be cautiously picked out and be complementary of your widespread design concept. The addition of a new wall accent might seem inappropriate or out of place otherwise.

Metal Wall Sculptures and Its Various Expressions

One could be pardoned if, like Rip van Winkle waking up after a 20-year sleep, he discovers himself most agreeably surrounded by a plethora of objets d’art that have mushroomed, replacing the traditional framed images that have invariably adorned walls. Van Winkle would be dumbfounded to find artwork created of metal adorning his walls, metal that he at one time believed was useful just in the construction of buildings. He’s still more delightfully surprised to learn that such a material – which sometimes includes parts one can only acquire in scrap yards – could be transformed into a thing of beauty and a bundle of paradoxes. And even more so he is dumbfounded that metal, which is usually regarded as heavy weight, should be able to flicker with the slightest burst of wind. And that such a hard material could exudate such visual warmth, van Winkle is dumbfounded yet enamored. He is also glad to discover these metal works of art everywhere, from the fifty ton vermilion leviathan gracing the Federal Plaza in Chicago, to a life-like praying mantis adorning a lighted corner. Yes, from wrought iron wine art and musical metal artwork constructed for inside use to metal wall sculptures and grilles seen in public sites, metal wall decor art is now a popular decor essential that is here to stay. Here are some facts would-be metal art aficionados might want to know.

Casting
Casting is the method that is used for producing some metal sculptures, and it is sometimes alluded to as lost-wax casting. One of the most readily identifiable types of casting metal wall sculptures is Cellini's Perseus with the Head of Medusa. In this instance, the artist pours liquid metal (either aluminum, bronze, steel, or some other alloy) into a mold, allows the work to cure, and then removes it to unveil the sculpture inside. Then the masterpiece is cleaned up, and, oftentimes, a patina is added. Casting is an old art that dates back over six millennia, with the oldest sample from this type of metal sculpture being a copper frog that was produced 3200 years before Christ.

Metal Wall Sculptures: Manufactured

Manufactured metal wall sculptures are normally welded together, sometimes in unison with lighting accents that can produce a pleasant work of art that can transform a uninteresting space. These art pieces empower the fortuitous owner instant pizzazz, marking them off as possessing flair and grace.
Patinized copper conventional contemporary wall art is an illustration. Other examples could be conventional brass or steel sculptures given a torch coloring or transparent tint coating. All share the same features: handcrafted, hand-painted, and extraordinary. There are all sizes on the market. Some are intended for outdoors, others for inside. Each artist has its own style, and some have even gone so far as to differentiate in one specified category, honing their skills to flawlessness. There’s one artist, for illustration, who specializes in animals and insects, and whose frogs and praying mantises are unbelievably realistic and look like they couldn’t possibly be created of metal. There is literally something for every taste. There are many forms to choose from, including human forms, animal forms, and abstract forms.

Re-Purposed Artwork
One artist in this category – which is also called "found object," "objet trouve," "readymade," or "junk art" -- describes his work as "sculpture fabricated from twentieth century by-products," which competently describes art of this kind. There is a significance between found art and manufactured art, that is to say that found art starts out with a product that has already been completed, such as a damaged car fender, the base of a table lamp, or a piece of copper tubing, and then transmuted into something altogether different. In this sense, found art finds kinship with the green movement slogan: re-use, re purpose, recycle.

Designer Suggestions for Eye-Catching Hallways

For an area that gets a lot of foot traffic, the hallway’s purpose in home interior design is oftentimes underrated. Many people believe its small floor space is too immaterial to be worth the extra time, effort, and money necessary for decorating purposes. Still, a well-designed hallway can give a terrific boost to your home’s aesthetic value. Whether you reside in a condominium, a bungalow, or a mansion, the ensuing tips can help turn your hall into a proper asset:

-Visually counterbalance the hall by applying color and installing proper lighting. You can make the hallway area seem more spacious by painting your walls and ceiling in vibrant and bright colors. When coupled with the right lighting, this visual effect will produce aesthetic interest. You can likewise reverberate extra light around the hallway with softly colored glazed tiles on the floor.

-Display exquisite artwork pieces with general themes. Select from a good variety of tropical artwork, or find large wall art portraying either timeless treasures or picturesque landscapes. You may also hang up family pictures sheathed in elegant frames. No matter which kind of artwork you opt to display, think about emphasizing it with accent lighting, like concave spotlights.

-Keep clutter under control in the hall space. Because it is one of the first things guests will see when they open the door, always keep the hall tidy and free of clutter. If this is where you ordinarily leave coats and purses, think about investing in appropriate storage. Free-standing coat racks and shoe racks are terrific storage solutions for the hall space.

-In many cases, the design of the living room should flow out into the hall. If your hall is spacious enough, however, you can elect to beautify it in its own particular style. One thing to recall is to practice moderation at all times when decorating such a tight space. Avoid integrating and matching items from different design motifs but instead look at each piece on its own merit.

-Use hallway furnishings appropriate to your preferred motif. For instance, an elaborately carved side table manufactured from solid wood may be well at ease in the hall of a Victorian-style home. Contemporary designs may include metal or glass furnishings, while tropical or Caribbean motifs may feature bamboo or rattan accents or metal tree wall decor.

-Scale is fundamental. The hallway design should be symmetrical to the dimensions of your home, and should be both relaxing and inviting. Furnishings and decor should be proper to the proportions of the house in order to avoid producing a hampered and drab feel in the hall.

Your hall can be much more than just an area between rooms in the home with the proper amount of preparation and attention to detail. The hallway can be an extension of your personality and expressive style. So choose the design of your hallway wisely and do not permit the hallway's small size to keep you from thinking big.

Measuring Carpeting for Stairs

Carpet installed on your hardwood stairwell can yield this part of your house a cozy, homey feel. Furthermore, steps that are carpeted are less hazardous and less apt to cause a slip and fall where somebody could become hurt.

If you have ever thought about carpeting your stairs on your own, you may be amazed to know that installation of carpet on steps is a very easy operation that most individuals can do. While it’s not as much fun as browsing for tropical wall hangings or wall décor art, you can save hundreds of dollars in contractor charges by doing the task yourself.

The essential aspect that must be adhered to when putting in carpet is to take precise measurements. Measuring is the initial step when putting in carpet. Starting with the right measurements will permit you to start your carpet installation on the right foot. For the purposes of this article, we will talk about the "waterfall" method of carpeting installation. This technique of installation is foremost suited for steps that are uniformly constructed in both height and width. Here’s how to take correct measurements for the ‘waterfall’ method.

Make measurements of the width of the entire stairway

The very first task you need to do is to measure the width of the total staircase. Stairways that are uniformly sized will only need that you measure the width at the stair's widest portion. Position one end of a basic measuring tape at one end, and next measure crossways the breadth of the step to the other end. Write down the breadth and consider that you may add two to four inches of supplemental breadth as allowance.

Measuring the breadth of every riser

The part of the stairs that you step on when ascending or going down a stairwell is known as the riser. In the waterfall method, you will basically want a single long piece of rug that will extend over the entire staircase. That is why it is essential to measure the dimensions of every riser. To take this measurement, measure from the top of the riser up to the joint where the riser stops. Take a note of these dimensions.

Take measurements of the "fall" of each step

The distance between one riser and the next is the "fall". To measure the fall, start at the end of one riser and extend your measuring tape to the start of the consecutive one. If your stairs have nosing, the fall stops below this jutted out part of each step. Jot down this measurement.

Combine the dimensions for the fall and the riser

To do this, simply add the two former measurements, and to this sum add a few inches for allowance. A margin will allow you to cover edges and corners neatly. Once you have determined the length of each step, including the leeway, you will simply need to multiply this number by the number of steps that you plan to cover. The end result is the total amount of carpet length that you will require for the job.

Finally, take these dimensions of entire length and width with you when browsing for carpet, and allow a professional to aid you in choosing the carpeting for the task.

Kitchen Cabinet Updates on a Shoestring Budget

Oftentimes an old kitchen simply needs to have its charm reawakened. If you recently purchased a new house with an aged kitchen or you wish to make the kitchen you've been living with a bit more pleasing and picturesque, you can do it without replacing the cabinets or becoming bogged down in stripping and refinishing. The below tips will help you produce the look you want in your kitchen, without the hard work that is oftentimes involved in restoring kitchen cabinets.

Vintage Cabinets Facelift

Many older kitchen feature the retro charm of all white cabinets and black and white checkered counter tile. Cheerful yellow paint can brighten up this color scheme. If you're lucky enough to have curved corner shelves, outline the edge in a perky blue. You can add an open shelf trimmed in the same blue above the kitchen sink to display collectibles, coffee tins, vintage vases, and the addition of blue and white checkered curtains on kitchen windows adds retro polish. Keep the color going with brightly patterned ceramic canisters on the counter. A bare wall can be dressed up with a spice rack or a wooden shelf that is either painted blue or trimmed in blue. Whether you want to add roosters, cherries or Tuscan accents and sunflowers, this color scheme will work with a myriad of themes.

Fix it Quickly

- When cabinets must have a facelift, it's much easier to paint than to strip and refinish. To paint cabinets, you just need to lightly sand the existing surface. It's easiest if you remove doors and drawers, remove all hardware and work on a flat surface. Use a paint roller to make things go more quickly.

- You can achieve a quick makeover of older cabinets by replacing the fronts of the cabinets with glass. Simply paint the interior of the cabinets with a deep shade that will allow you to showcase the contents of the cabinets.

- Change hardware on your cabinetry for a quick and easy update. This one small and simple change can work to provide inspiration for an entirely fresh and different color scheme and style that you can reinforce with the use of wall art, chair cushions, curtains and other accents. Glass knobs are ideal for hardware changes when you want to add some sparkle to a kitchen that is lifeless.

- A new backsplash can brighten up the kitchen inexpensively. Bring some cheer to a darker kitchen with green and white tiles. Open up the entire area and reflect light by making a backsplash from mirrors. You can have custom cut glass prepared at any glass store.

- Get rid of your upper cabinets and opt for open shelving instead. Shelving is much cheaper than new cabinets and you can paint them or choose hardware, like elegantly scrolled wrought iron brackets, to tie in with a theme. Open storage and plate racks allow you to add color wherever you like while also giving the illusion of more space. Hang cups or cooking utensils below the shelving for convenience and decorative appeal.

- Be a bit more risque and try a totally unanticipated theme in the aged kitchen: Try bold colors like yellow and mango as a backdrop for a tropical theme kitchen complete with palm tree wall art and tropical wall hangings.

Before rushing to replace or refinish cabinets look for other ways to bring color and brightness to the kitchen. Stylish wall art, wall paint, collectibles situated in different areas on the top of upper kitchen cabinets, and improved lighting can really make a huge difference in the overall aesthetic enjoyment of your kitchen.

How To Welcome Spring with a Sunny Front Porch Exhibit

The front porch is your first opportunity to welcome guests and there is no better way to provide a warm welcome than with spring porch decor. Bringing some much necessary color to this section of the home after a long, seemingly endless wintertime will make everyone who goes in feel fortuitous.

Springtime Wreath Selections

A wreath adds a playful and cheerful spring component for your front door. You will find umpteen spring motifs on wreaths in your local craft or home store, including those featuring whimsical bunny rabbits, springtime blossoms, and brilliantly colored eggs.
Or make a wreath that's uniquely "you" by producing one yourself. All you will need is a standard grapevine wreath and a few ornamentations like vines, flowers, floral picks, and a bow.

Old World Springtime Charm

Whatever metal container, from an antiquated ash bin, to buckets and watering cans, can be transformed into a captivating planter. Give galvanized buckets a little color by painting the exterior in cheery hues of yellow. Recall that any container that you repurpose for live plants will need to have drainage holes, which you can drill into the bottom of the container; then just add your planting soil and plant. A good choice for a springtime container is the cold-hardy pansy with their bright little "faces" that appear to lend cheerfulness to even the gloomiest wet day. When the conditions starts to warm up for summertime and the pansies start to fade, exchange them with summertime blossoming annuals like geraniums, impatiens, petunias or lobelia.

Completing Touches

When it comes to finding splendid and cheerful decor for the porch, there are literally thousands of options. From the home improvement store and garden center to a multitude of online outlets, there are truckloads of decorative accents and wall decor art that may find a
spot on your springtime porch.

- Old antique seat can hold a basketful of blossoms or put in a wire basket stuffed with blooms right into the seat frame.
- Turkish Boxwood topiary make the ideal element for filling a footed urn. Try a fleur-de-lis planter with a gently distressed finish for a feeling of Old World style.
- Opt for individual concrete, metal, or ceramic ornamental figurines and statues to lend a playful emphasis to the porch. Choose from bunny rabbits, toad frogs, ladybugs, snails, hedgehogs, birds, dogs and cats. The number goes on perpetually.
- Add a decorative flag to your porch that invites spring with robins and tulips or chicks and Easter eggs. A quick online search will divulge a remarkable number of retail merchants merchandising flags for all seasons.
- A tricycle or bicycle planter makes old-fashioned style fresh again with handbaskets that will hold pots of fresh blossoms. Mini wheelbarrows are another captivating selection.
- Bestow cottage appeal that can change with the seasons by installing flower boxes below your windows or upon a porch rail.
- Ladders and plant stands let you exhibit pots of flowers in bloom, small statues or a collection of watering cans.
- Welcome friends and guests to stay awhile with a couple of timeless rocking chairs, a traditional bench, or a classical porch swing.
- Nothing says spring like a welcome mat that features the flowers and colors of springtime.
- Impart the sounds of spring to your porch with rollicking wind chimes.
- Lend a whimsical touch to the porch with classic sun wall art that welcomes the spring and adds a playful feel to the entire space.

How to Install Integral Pad Carpet

One of the most favorite types of carpeting on the market is integral pad carpet, which is carpet that has its own cushiony padding that is attached to the back side of the carpet and that eliminates the need to lay down extra carpeting padding. Integral pad carpet is also alluded to as cushion-backed carpeting and is the perfect flooring solution for concrete floors because you do not need to use nails or tacks to hold it to the floor. Integral pad carpet is also ideal for smaller areas such as bathrooms and closets as they can be located and fitted on the flooring without the need for carpeting tape. To preclude the edges from curling, however, larger sections can be easily grounded with double-sided tape. You can find integral pad carpet in a diversity of styles, including cut pile and Berber, and in a rainbow of different colors.

Preparation

As you would when putting in any other carpet type, checking the area to be carpeted is fundamental; the flooring beneath should be dry, clean, and smooth. Make certain that there is no dust, dirt, sticky residue or debris on the floor. If the flooring is not properly prepared, the double-sided tape will not stick properly. Besides the integral pad carpet, you will require double-sided carpet tape that is two inches wide, a carpeting cutter, a measuring tape or ruler, and a chalk for marking the carpeting. You may also need a seam adhesive if your particular installation necessitates you to lay down more than one section of carpeting in one space.

Measuring and cutting

Measure the perimeter or space to be carpeted, taking both the width and length and adding an inch on each side of the measurement. For instance, if the width is 80 inches, you should cut the carpet so that it is 82 inches wide accounting for the surplus inch on both sides of the width. Do likewise for the length. Apply the chalk line to mark the line where you will cut the carpeting. Lay the carpet on the flooring so that it encompasses the whole space.

Finishing touches

After the carpeting is pressed into position, start out with a corner section, being certain not to slide the carpet out of its position as you work. Lift up one section of carpeting and put on a border of rug tape below it, applying it to the floor below. Smooth out the tape in its position, removing any air bubbles, and then peel off the backing of the tape. Drop the carpet onto the tape and put force on the carpet so that it will stick, smoothing it with your hands. You can also get a rolling pin to help you in smoothing out the carpeting. This procedure should be repeated around the perimeter for all remaining carpet sides. After you have attached all sides to the floor, trim excess carpet from the edges. And finally, press the edges of the carpet beneath the mopboard. You might also look at positioning a shoe molding on the carpet edges and then securely nail it to the baseboard.

If the carpeting requires seaming, install five-inch carpet tape underneath the seam, push the pieces of carpet into place and put on seam adhesive as directed on the product label.
Adding carpeting over concrete floors directly makes a room more trendy and cozy and it can help turn a utilitarian space, like an incomplete basement, into useable living space. Now that the job is complete, you may be inspired to decorate the space with brilliant colors and an informal motif that includes palm tree wall art and metal or ceramic sun wall art. No matter what you choose, be careful to add your own personal style to the space.

Use Wine as a Decor Accent with Wall Mounted Wine Racks

The aim of a wine rack is to properly hold your treasured vintage so that the cork rests in constant contact with the wine within the bottle rather than becoming mildewed or drying up. It does not matter if you enjoy smooth modern-day style, or the romance of Old World French Country or Tuscan style, there is a wine rack that will enhance your decor.

Wall mounted wine racks have a bonus space saving characteristic, since they do not take up precious counter space. And keep in mind that they can be mounted on any upright space, such as the end of an upper cabinet or a narrow wall between the kitchen and dining room, making the most of ‘dead’ space.

You can enhance your wall and produce a nice focal point with these two ideas for hanging your wine rack.

Functional and Visually-Pleasing Focal Point for Home Bar Area.

In place of old-fashioned race car posters and beer signs used for wall decor art, why not bestow some worldliness and elegance to the area? A large wall is a remarkable space upon which to exhibit three wall mounted wine racks. Place them in a triangular fashion with the center rack being hung up the highest, and the other two parallel with each other and off to the side. Then place another piece of wall art beneath the center wine rack. For a Tuscan feel, select a pleasant picture or framed photographic print of a trattoria surrounded in a stunning piazza or wrought iron Tuscan sun wall art. You could also decoupage labels from your favored vintages on foam board then mount your collage in a svelte frame. Wineries oftentimes carry large posters of special or yearly issued vintages. These can be stylishly framed as well. Top it all off by adding a few dangling pendant lights to illuminate the grouping.

Bestow French Rural Flair to the Dining Area.

Definitive French toile patterns and an elegant wrought iron wall mounted wine rack work in harmony to transport your dining room to the stunning French countryside. Start with walls in a cozy tone of pale sky blue or warm yellow, with wood trim accented in buttery cream. A black wrought iron wall mounted wine rack creates an attention-getting focal point. Beside it, place a grouping of plates and platters hung on the wall with individual plate hangers in French rustic motifs like sunflowers or roosters. Carry the theme to a black wrought iron chandelier fitted with various bulb shades in black and white check. Lend unique elegance by choosing black and white toile chair cushions. Finish off the presentation by positioning white pottery on a black hutch and positioning a bowl of grapes and other fruits on the table.

Can I Sue Them

Pen

I had a jacket of great sentimental value. It has been with me since my high school. Even though it was a bit of shabby I still had good memories related to it and I use to put it on occasionally. But one wretched pen had destroyed it. The pen was in the inside pocket and the ink had gotten out and made an un-cleanable spot. I had taken the jacket to professional cleaner and they told me they can not save it. I wonder if I can sue the manufacturer of the pen. This unfortunate thing had destroyed my memories. Someone must take the responsibility for that. But I gues I am overreacting... maybe I also can have a bit of blame placing the pen there...
